San Andreas, CA — The Calaveras County Water District has been approved for a USDA loan that will enable construction of a new operations headquarters in San Andreas.
The $2.9 million low interest loan is the final component of a finance package that CCWD has been negotiating to build the facility.
Congressman Dan Lungren assisted in the application process and states, “The only thing tougher than finding water in Calaveras County sometimes is funding in an economic climate like we’re in. But I am delighted that we were able to put our heads and priorities together and take advantage of this USDA loan.”
The new headquarters will be built on 3.4 acres of property in San Andreas. It will be an updated facility and allow for better working conditions. Construction could begin next year at 267 George Reed Drive.
