Sonora, CA – Another Sonora High School football player has been arrested in connection to a bar fight on October 10th at Diamond Jim’s in Mi Wuk Village.
The Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office confirms that 18-year-old Nate Gray was arrested at Sonora High School Tuesday afternoon. He faces a charge of battery with serious bodily injury. Another suspect was arrested Tuesday on the same charge, 30-year-old Dallas Dean Smith , following the investigation of the Sheriff’s Office.
As reported earlier, another member of the Sonora High football team was arrested October 10th following the fight at Diamond Jim’s. The Sheriff’s Office reports that he is a 17-year-old juvenile, so his name is not released. In a separate incident this past Saturday, 18-year-old football player Austin Thoburn was arrested and charged with DUI following a rollover accident on Racetrack Road. The CHP reports that a passenger in the vehicle, a 17-year-old juvenile, suffered major injuries.
It likely won’t be known until the Friday game against Sierra what potential disciplinary actions will be taken.
Sonora Union High School District Superintendent Dr. Mike McCoy stated earlier this week that the school does not comment on student disciplinary decisions due to confidentiality policies. A previous article regarding off the field issues facing the football team can be found by clicking here.
