Burning Allowed During Day

Sonora, CA — CAL Fire has lifted burn hour restrictions in the Tuolumne-Calaveras jurisdiction.

Up until 8am this morning, burning had been limited to evening hours. CAL Fire permits are still required for burning, and it is only allowed on permissive burn days, as declared by the Air Pollution Control District.

CAL Fire Unit Chief Mike Noonan states, “Conditions will continue to be monitored and restrictions or suspension will go back into place if conditions warrant. Open hours burning on permissive burn days allows home owners to burn debris created by working on 100 feet of defensible space.”

CAL Fire says it is important to monitor and watch burn piles at all times.
