Area Unemployment Rates Fall

Sonora, CA – The unemployment rate dropped slightly in both Tuolumne and Calaveras Counties in September.

A report released by the California Employment Development Department states that Tuolumne County’s rate in September was 13.1 percent, as compared to 13.2 percent in August. Calaveras County’s rate in September was 15.3 percent, compared to 15.4 percent in August.

Meanwhile, California’s unemployment rate remained steady in September at 12.4 percent. The U.S. unemployment rate is 9.6 percent.
