Standard Becoming Economic Hub?

Standard, CA – Sierra Pacific Industries is hoping a 15 acre piece of property near the Mono Way and Standard Road intersection will be rezoned for commercial use. The proposal will go before the Tuolumne County Planning Commission on November 3rd. The property is located on the west side of Standard Road, approximately 600 ft. south of the Mono Way intersection.

“It is located behind the new Tractor Supply store, and what they hope to do is rezone it for commercial use to allow for a development such as a shopping center,” says Bev Shane, Tuolumne County Community Development Director. “This would allow for a greater hub of commercial development in that part of the county.”

The S.P.I. property is next to the new “Standard Center,” which will soon include an AM/PM mini-mart and some type of fast food restaurant, in addition to the Tractor Supply store.
S.P.I. has not brought forth any specific plans to the county at this time, and is only asking for a change in zoning. Currently the property is zoned for heavy industrial use. The Planning Commission meeting will be held November 3rd at 7pm in the County Administration Center.
