BOR Agrees To Fund Sheriff’s Deputy

Sonora, CA — The Bureau of Reclamation has agreed to fund a year round Sheriff’s Deputy to provide law enforcement services at New Melones Lake.


The Sheriff’s Office has traditionally provided services on some weekends and holidays, and the BOR has reimbursed the office for overtime and mileage. The BOR has entered into a three year contract with Tuolumne County, in which it will pay the Sheriff’s Office over $170,000 a year for a full time deputy. The contract will fund the salary, benefits, equipment, vehicle maintenance, gear, etc.


The agreement was approved by the Board of Supervisors.
