Sonora, CA – Flooding is a concern in the Mother Lode as a series of rain showers will make their way through the region this weekend and continue into next week.
Deputy Tuolumne County Administrator Maureen Frank says emergency sand will be available for residents at three locations from noon today through Friday, December 24. Sand, to help mitigate isolated flooding, can be picked up at the Columbia Airport in the back of the parking lot, at the Tuolumne Road Yard at the corner of Birch and Baker Street, and at the Groveland Road Yard at the intersection of Highway 120 and Wards Ferry Road (Contact Groveland Fire for assistance at the Groveland Yard).
Residents are asked to bring their own bags and shovels for the sand. The County has confirmed that there are ample supplies of sandbags available for purchase at area hardware stores.
