Motherlode Flood Advisory Extended Through Sunday

The National Weather Service has extended the Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for the Motherlode through Sunday 1:45 PM.

Very heavy rainfall, possibly up to ten inches, is forecast below the snow line.

In addition to the further rising of local small creeks and streams, minor (or nuisance) type flooding of roadways, underpasses and other low lying areas is probable.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross safely.

A Flood Watch has also been issued for the Sierra Nevada through Monday morning.

Flooding or flash flooding is possible along with localized rock or mud slides. Rising waters are anticipated along the smaller rivers and streams.

The Winter Storm Warning has been extended for the Sierra Nevada through Monday 4 PM.

Several inches of snow is possible at 4000 feet during this time period. Two to four feet of snow accumulation is expected above 5000 feet. Five to ten feet of snow is possible above 7000 feet.

The snow levels are expected to fluctuate greatly between 4000 and 8000 feet.

Winds of fifteen to thirty-five mph are likely in the mountains with some gusts reaching as high as sixty mph.
