Sonora, CA — Third District Supervisor Teri Murrison finds herself adjusting to her new role as the Tuolumne County Supervisorial Chair.
Only two years ago Murrison was the "new kid on the block" filling the vacant District Three position. Now she succeeds Fifth District Supervisor Dick Pland as Board Chair.
Asked whether she feels comfortable in her new position, Murrison commented, "I’m confident but not entirely comfortable. There is some resistance from my peers to some changes I would like to make in the rules that govern our actions. Overall though, we have a great Board and I’m sure we can work through the differences. I sense there is a greater spirit of cooperation and building trust that maybe hasn’t existed for a long time. I’m just excited about where we are going to go this year and the years to come."
Murrison added that she can certainly relate to Board newcomer John Gray (Fourth District) who is just getting his feet wet in county business-politics. After all she says, "It was just two years ago I was in his spot so I’m trying to help him whenever I can."
Murrison then completed her remarks with this quote, "We’re having some fun and doing some good stuff."
The major priority outside of dealing with her peers, the state budget crisis.
