Update at 12:02pm: CAL Fire reports that the forward spread has been stopped on the small vegetation fire that ignited in the area of North Fork Road and Merrill Springs Road near Long Barn. It is not immediately clear what ignited the fire.
Original story posted at 11:50am: Long Barn, CA — Firefighters are working to extinguish a roughly 50 x 50 ft. vegetation fire in the area of North Fork Road and Merrill Springs Road.
Air and ground resources were dispatched to the fire near the community of Long Barn and are aggressively working to extinguish the blaze.
Shortly after the call came into dispatch about the fire, there was also a report of a 50 x 50 ft. fire in Calaveras County on Toreno Way near Highway 12 in Burson. That fire was contained by Caltrans workers shortly before firefighters arrived.
