Sonora, CA — Tip A Cop Night is coming to Applebee’s Restaurant Wednesday evening at six o’clock.
This year members of the Sonora Police Department and the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office will partner with a Tuolumne County Special Olympics athlete and together they will serve dinners.
The law enforcement officer will leave an envelope at a table with the hope that a tip will be left for Special Olympics.
Area Coordinator Kathi Kopyn stated, "Our goal is to raise $2,000 for our athletes this year. The money would be used for equipment and travel expenses."
Kopyn added, "It’s a great chance of the public to meet our athletes and meet law enforcement personnel in a positive arena. Many times they get such a bad rap. It’s also really fun to see the interaction between the athletes and the law enforcement personnel."
