Sonora, CA — The Tuolumne Utilities District will meet next week, and the board of directors will take action on a pair of projects.
On the agenda is a $597,000 contract with Sierra Mountain Construction for repairs at the Lakewood Dam. In February of 2017 heavy rainfall damaged the dam’s spillway structure, and the downstream face of the dam was severely eroded. All of this specific project’s costs are anticipated to be covered by CAL OES/FEMA.
The second project calls for improving the district’s O’Neil Tunnel by placing a pipe in it, while still trying to preserve the historic resource by not completely filling or sealing it. The proposed contract, also with Sierra Mountain Construction, would be just over $236,000.
In addition, there will be a discussion about potentially joining a Coalition for Fire Protection and Accountability, and a conversation about updating the board of director policies and procedures. The meeting will begin at 2pm, this coming Tuesday, at 18885 Nugget Blvd in Sonora.
