Campgrounds Open In Anticipation Of Memorial Day Weekend

Sonora, CA — A majority of the Stanislaus National Forest campgrounds and picnic areas will be open this Memorial Day weekend.

33 of the 52 developed campgrounds will be available, according to spokesperson Pat Kaunert.

Forest conditions vary by elevation. Campers, hikers and backpackers should expect to find the snow level beginning at approximately 7,500 ft. Although rivers and streams throughout the Forest will be running at lower levels this summer due to low-to-average snowpack, visitors are always asked to use caution along streams and waterways.

The three major Mother Lode mountain passes are all open for the season, Tioga, Sonora and Ebbetts.

For information on specific campgrounds you can call the Stanislaus National Forest Main Office at 209-532-3671.
