Sonora, CA — The Sonora Area Foundation has exceeded its goal of raising $250,000 for the May SOS campaign.
“I think it’s a monumental example of how Tuolumne County takes care of its own,” says Foundation CEO Mark Bergstrom. “It’s just terrific and we are really looking forward to distributing this money in the next few weeks to ATCAA, Interfaith and Sierra Senior Providers.”
The money will be matched dollar-for-dollar by SAF to bring the total to $500,000. The one month campaign drew support from all throughout the community.
“We had two young girls who brought us a big jar with about $44 in it yesterday, and they were smiling and giggling,” adds Bergstrom. “It’s great how it really touched a lot of different age groups.”
The money will help provide food, shelter, clothes and wood for those in need.
