15 Tour Buses Receive Citations

Yosemite, CA — 24 tour buses were stopped in Yosemite National Park Wednesday for a random safety inspection by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.

Park Ranger Kari Cobb says 15 buses received citations and two were taken completely out of service. Specific details on the violations have not been released by the FMCSA, but Cobb says a report is expected to be released later this week.

Inspections examine brakes, lighting and other aspects to find out if the vehicles are in compliance with the FMCSA standards.

Yosemite National Park receives approximately 3.5 million visitors each year and around 250,000 arrive on a tour bus.

FMCSA will continue inspections on Thursday. They are in conjunction with the Highway Patrol.
