S.R.M.C. Will Take Over V.N.A.-Hospice Services

Sonora, CA — Tuolumne County’s Visiting Nurse Association of the Mother Lode and Hospice of the Sierra services will be taken over by Sonora Regional Medical Center effective August 1st.

The Tuolumne County Supervisors voted 5-0 to sell the business assets to S.R.M.C. for $204,522.

VNA and Hospice of the Sierra currently have 30 employees on staff. Tuolumne County Human Services Agency Director Ann Connolly told the Supervisors that over 90 percent of the employees will be offered jobs by Sonora Regional Medical Center.

Tuolumne County’s projected operating loss of VNA and Hospice of the Sierra for fiscal year 2009/10 was over $400,000, prompting county leaders to investigate privatization.
