Angels Camp Teen Recovering From H1N1

Angels Camp, CA — A second case of the H1N1 influenza has been confirmed in Calaveras County.

County Health Officer Dr. Dean Kelaita states, “A 16-year-old resident of Angels Camp is recovering from the virus and did not require hospitalization.”

Statistics compiled earlier this month show that California has had 2,469 cases, 287 hospitalizations and 32 deaths attributed to H1N1, formerly known as Swine Flu.

Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, runny nose, aches, chills and fatigue.

Dr. Kelaita advises, “We do not normally have a lot of flu activity this time of year, so it is important for high risk persons with fever, cough or sore throat to seek care.”

Calaveras County now has two confirmed cases, while Tuolumne County has reported one.
