Jamestown, CA — The C.H.P. has positively identified 47 year old Craig Chase of Yosemite National Park as the deceased in that single vehicle accident Saturday evening at approximately 7:20.
According to Officer Mike Remmel Chase was westbound east of Cherry Lake Rd. when he lost control of his vehicle. The 1999 Toyota 4-Runner crossed the center line, proceeded up a steep embankment, overturned and landed in the eastbound lane.
Chase was wearing his seatbelt and alcohol and or drugs have been ruled out as contributing to this accident.
Chase’s death marks the 13th traffic related fatality of the year in Tuolumne County. Last year there were only three deaths for the entire 12 months.
