Sonora, CA — Despite the fact the Knight Fire has grown to 5,078 acres, daily resources are actually being reduced.
In comparing today with Monday, August 3, there is one less Type One hand crew, one less helicopter, 10 fewer engines. three fewer water tenders and one less dozer. In addition all three air tankers have been recalled from the Knight Fire. Finally there are 93 fewer personnel on scene today as compared to Monday.
Today “hot shot” crews have completed that burnout operation on the west flank of the fire all the way down to the river. With the help of helicopters the “hot shots” are dropping fire into the islands of unburned fuel.
