Angels Camp City Administrator Heading To Iraq

Angels Camp, CA — Angels Camp City Administrator Tim Shearer will be taking a leave of absence in order to serve in Iraq.

Shearer, a Colonel with the Army Reserves, has not been deployed overseas since the mid 1980’s when he was on active duty in Germany during the Cold War.

“I’ll be working in a province with the local Iraqi government, and helping in governance, rule of law and helping with things like the local economy,” says Shearer. “My city management skills should come in handy with this assignment.”

Shearer will leave Angels Camp on January 22nd and head for Fort Dix in New Jersey for pre-training. He will be in Iraq from March of 2010 through March of 2011. He will be on leave of absence for approximately 440 days.

The Angels Camp City Council has scheduled a special meeting for Tuesday, August 11th to discuss a plan for moving forward while Shearer is overseas.
