San Andreas, CA — Local firefighters are now battling fires well outside the CAL Fire Tuolumne-Calaveras Unit.
According to CAL Fire Communications Operator Ed Allendorf one strike team of engines is stationed at the 17,623 acre SHU Lightning Complex Fire in Shasta County listed as 70 percent contained.
There is one strike team of crews along and overhead personnel at the La Brea Fire 21 miles east of Santa Maria in the Los Padres National Forest in Santa Barbara County.
This fire has burned 48,457 acres and is only 10 percent contained.
Mother Lode resources at the Lockheed Fire in the Santa Cruz mountains include two CAL Fire strike teams of crews, one CAL Fire strike team of engines, one strike team of engines from Tuolumne County and one strike team of engines from Calaveras County along with numerous overhead personnel.
The Lockheed Fire has burned 2,800 acres. More than 1,000 structures are currently threatened in the Swanton and Bonny Doon communities.
Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for those areas affecting 2,200-2,400 people.
