Sonora, CA — At 9am today a vehicle driven by 26 year old Taren Thomas of Sonora was impaled by a circular cement parking barrier in the Junction Shopping Center.
According to CHP Investigating Officer Tim Scott Ms. Thomas was westbound on Tuolumne when her vehicle (2001 Subaru Forester) drifted to the right. she then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle when proceeded through the guardrail and down an embankment immediately behind the backside of Longs Drug Store.
The vehicle landed on its roof. Ms. Thomas who is pregnant suffered only minor injuries. The CHP credits proper use of her seatbelt for avoiding any serious injuries to her and her unborn child.
Officer Scott commented that, "This woman took quite a fall from the roadway here. She is very lucky I think." Scott added that alcohol was not a contributing factor to the accident.
The investigation as to why the vehicle left the roadway is continuing.
