Sonora, CA — A public hearing to start at nine o’clock to consider the adoption of all budget actions contained within the 2009/10 Tuolumne County fiscal budget will highlight today’s supervisorial meeting.
CAO Craig Pedro comments that due to one-time carryover dollars, the county was able to reinstate almost the entire Park and Recreation Department in addition to the WOW Wheels of Wonder mobile library.
Overall 99 positions were cut from the county budget but a little more than 30 of those were privatized when the VNA Hospice program was taken over by Sonora Regional Medical Center. That left approximately 65 employees who lost their county jobs. Pedro added that approximately half of those individuals are now employed.
Also today, at 1:30, the public hearing will continue to consider approving the General Plan Amendment to adopt the update of the Housing Element of the county’s general plan.
