Yosemite, CA – Yosemite Officials say Jeff Maurer, an employee at the park, died over the weekend from a fall along Mount Dana.
Maurer, 47, was a Wildlife Biologist who had worked in the park for the past three years. Prior to that, he worked at the Yosemite Institute, taught at the University of California Davis, and did research for numerous conservation organizations.
“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident,” says Acting Yosemite Superintendent Dave Uberuaga. “This is a huge loss to the Yosemite National Park and National Park Service family.”
Maurer was climbing the Third Pillar route Sunday when he was fatally injured.
