Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce President George Segarini is encouraged by what he sees as signs of an eventual economic turnaround in Tuolumne County.
Segarini was Wednesday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
A few of the promising signs that Segarini pointed too is the new shopping center going up at Mono Way and Standard Road, which will be anchored by a tractor supply store. Also a Veterans Affairs building is just about ready to open its doors on Mono Way. There are a couple of prospects eyeing the now vacant buildings of Mervyn’s and Gottschalks. And according to Segarini, Lowes Home Improvement should break ground next year.
Generally speaking, according to Segarinni, businesses that have suffered the most in Tuolumne County are in the retail sector. On the flip side, the service industry has been faring the best.
And finally. once again the Tuolumne County Chamber of Commerce is seeking the public’s nominations for the “Best of Tuolumne County Awards” The Awards Banquet will be held on Thursday November 19th at the Sonora Elks lodge. Nominations can be made over the internet at www.TCchamber.com and must be submitted by Monday October 5th.
The KVML “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:46, 7:46 and 8:46am
