Angels Camp, CA — Rather than the traditional Crown Victoria, the Angels Camp Police Department has purchased a brand new Dodge Charger.
Angels Camp Police Officer Jim McKeon was Thursday’s KVML “Newsmaker of the Day”.
McKeon says it is thanks to an anonymous $58,000 donation that was given to the Police Department.
“The people that gave us the money really love children, so one of the things we did was make the car completely children friendly,” adds Officer McKeon. “We added two 15 inch monitors in the back of the vehicle, and attached is a Playstation 3 and X-Box 360.”
McKeon notes that the vehicle and amenities were purchased entirely from the donation and taxpayer money was not used.
The car will be taken Bret Harte High School and Mark Twain Elementary to serve as the school resource car. It is designed to help students feel comfortable around law enforcement. It also sports the logos of both schools on the side of the vehicle.
The “Newsmaker of the Day” is heard each weekday morning on AM 1450 KVML at 6:47, 7:47 and 8:47am.
