Update: Structure Fire In Sonora Hills

Update at 7:50 pm: Tuolumne County Fire Department officials tell Clarke Broadcasting that the garage was destroyed, as can be seen by the pictures in the image box, and a neighboring home suffered some damage as well. What sparked the blaze is under investigation. The American Red Cross tells us that a volunteer Disaster Response Team (DAT) is on scene assisting the residents. Further details on the blaze are below.

Update at 7:20 pm: Fire crews have knocked down a blaze that broke out in a garage on a property in the 12600 block of Red Chestnut Lane near Ambar Lane, across from Sonora Elementary School, which is on Greenley Road in Sonora. The flames did not spread to any nearby vegetation. No injuries were reported and all occupants inside a home on the property were able to escape unharmed. There is no word on what sparked the blaze is under investigation.

Update at 6:50 pm: Red Chestnut Lane has been closed to all through traffic at Ambar Lane as fire crews work a structure fire. The blaze ignited in a garage in the 12600 block of Red Chestnut Lane, which is across from Sonora Elementary School, which is on Greenley Road in Sonora. All occupants inside a home on the property were able to escape unharmed. It is unclear whether the flames have spread to nearby vegetation.

Original post at 6:30 pm: Sonora, CA — Firefighters are battling a structure fire across from Sonora Elementary School on Greenley Road in Sonora.

Crews were called to the 12600 block of Red Chestnut Lane near Ambar Lane in Sonora Hills. The flames broke out in a garage and it is not clear if any other structures are threatened at this time. We will have updates as soon as new information comes into the newsroom.
