Sonora High Junior Captures Mother Lode Fair Idol Competition

Sonora, CA — 16 year old Tessa Silva, the youngest of the 10 contestants, walked away with top honors Sunday evening in the Mother Lode Fair Idol competition.

The junior-to-be at Sonora High School decided on singing Somewhere Over The Rainbow because she has spent more time practicing that song than any other.

Silva admitted she was a little bit nervous before her turn with microphone but she labeled it a “good” nerviousness because it “made me sing better.”

Silva, who says signing is her passion, will now move on to the American Idol trials in San Francisco July 17th and then compete in the August California State Fair in Sacramento.

Silva´s prize was a $500 check which she says she´ll put toward her car.

Runnerup honors went to Kelsey Alina Bernheisel from Copperopolis.
