More Lightning In The Forecast For Sierra

Sonora, Ca — The National Weather Services reports that there is another good chance for lightning storms to develop across the Sierra Nevada beginning late this afternoon and continuing through Saturday.

Crews all across Northern California already have their hands full battling fires caused by lightning strikes last weekend. Locally, the 1,411 acre North Mountain Fire in the Groveland Ranger District of the Stanislaus National Forest is currently 30% contained.

The National Weather Service says that tonight´s storms will likely not be accompanied by much precipitation, but may produce quite a bit of lightning. Saturday´s scattered thunderstorms will likely be accompanied by more precipitation as the air mass across the region is expected to slightly moisten.
