Sonora, CA — A Modesto husband and wife were killed in a single motorcycle accident during the noon hour today.
The accident took place at approximately 12:30 on Hwy 108 a half mile east of the Old Strawberry Rd. exit.
According to CHP Officer Scott Clamp the bike failed to negotiate a left hand turn. The 2005 Yamaha Royal Star exited the road and proceeded down a steep embankment. The 47 year old husband and his 46 year old wife were ejected prior to the bike hitting a tree. Even though they were both wearing helmets they were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Clamp added that alcohol may be a contributing factor. This marks only the second and third traffic related fatalities in Tuolumne County this year.
