Sonora, CA — A 22 year old unemployed Mi Wuk Village resident, Jason Andrew Baker of 24510 Hwy 108, #1 in Mi Wuk Village, and an un-named 17 year old six foot, 285 pound juvenile of that same address were arrested Saturday afternoon shortly after four o´clock.
The two were charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, receiving stolen property and driving without a license.
Residents reported a suspicious vehicle in the area that might have been involved in a breakin at a residence on Kalanu Place. Deputy Rod Hobbs located and stopped the vehicle.
A search of the vehicle revealed a DVD player, a large silver telescope, several fishing poles and rods, along with several fishing tackle boxes with equipment and tools. These items were believed to have been recently stolen from a nearby residence on Pine Lake Drive in Sugar Pine. Additional stolen items were found at the 24510 Hwy 108, #1 residence.
Lt. Dan Bressler states the arrests were made because residents called in the suspicious vehicle. Bressler added that with low staffing levels, the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Office counts on residents to be the “eyes and ears” of the Office.
If you live in the Mi Wuk area and have been the victim of a recent burglary you are encouraged to contact the Sheriff´s Office (533-5815) to possibily identify stolen items.
