Sonora, CA — Public testimony in the form of proponents and opponents of the proposed 1,076 acre, 897 home Mountain Springs Community project came to a close Tuesday evening at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.
Monday evening approximately 30 proponents of the project including developer Ron Kopf held court in the Manzanita Building. Kopf outlined the many changes that had been made since the original proposal.
Tuesday evening six more proponents spoke in behalf of the project located off Lime Kiln Rd. south of Hwy 108.
Opponents numbering 33 then had an opportunity to explain why the entire project should be scrapped. John Buckley of the Central Sierra Environmental Resource Center mentioned the possibility of perhaps reducing the number of homes from 897 to 587.
This evening at six o´clock the planning commissioners will initiate the deliberation process before still another “open to the public” meeting. The commissioners will then pass their recommendation on to the Board of Supervisors.
