Sonora, CA — Regardless the outcome of the final Department of Water Resources snowpack measurement last week, Tuolumne Utilities District General Manager Pete Kampa says the summer Mother Lode water supply will definitely be adequate.
So much so that Kampa adds that there will be no call for a voluntary conservation effort this year as there was in 2007. Last year Kampa though T.U.D. might have to purchase water from P.G.& E. but thanks to the conservation effort no purchase was necessary.
Kampa says this year Pinecrest is expected to fill adequately to meet the needs of the immediate region. He added that southern California residents will undoubtedly suffer a shortage of water this year due to the overall snow content level in the Sierra Nevada.
The D.W.R.´s final measurement of the year stated that the snowpack is only 67 percent of normal for this time of the year.
