San Andreas, CA — The CHP office has collected and donated more than 160 books to three local non-profit organizations during the 2008 Cesar Chavez Book Drive which started on his birthday, March 31, and came to a close earlier today.
According to CHP Officer Jaime Castillo those books will be distributed to the Calaveras Women´s Crisis Center, the Human Resources Council and the San Andreas Teen Center in a 2pm ceremony today.
This marks the seventh annual Cesar Chavez Book Drive. More than 60,000 books have been donated to non-profits statewide since this program was initiated in 2002.
