Trio Injured In Weekend DUI Accident

Sonora, CA — 23 year old Justin Tschantz of Denair was arrested by the C.H.P. early Sunday morning and booked into the Tuolumne County Jail for driving while under the influence.

Just before 2am, Tschantz was westbound on Tuolumne Rd. west of Soulsbyville Rd. near Cherokee Drive traveling at unknown speed. Due to his level of intoxication he allowed his vehicle to travel off the roadway edge. When he overcorrected he lost control of the vehicle which eventually left the roadway, became airborne and collided with a wire fence.

Two passengers, 22 year old James Sheehy of Turlock and 24 year old Chad Zumstein of Denair, were both airlifted from the scene due to their respective injuries. Tschantz was treated at Sonora Regional Medical Center.
