Sonora Juvenile Faces Burglary Charges

Sonora, Ca — A 14-year-old juvenile, believed to be responsible for at least six recent burglaries, has been arrested in Sonora.

The Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious person walking around the 200 block of Oak St. on Wednesday afternoon. The reporting party told an officer that when he confronted the juvenile, the suspect said that he was out looking for people who wanted their lawn mowed.

The reporting party´s house had been burglarized the day before, and felt the juvenile´s actions and statements were suspicious.

The officer began checking the area for the juvenile, and spotted the suspect walking into the backyard of another residence approximately one block away. The juvenile tried to tell the officer that he was visiting a friend, but when further questioned, admitted that he did not know who lives at the residence.

The Police Department later conducted a search of the suspect´s residence, and found $2,000 in stolen property from six different residential burglaries. The property ranged from cash to cell phones and video game consoles. The juvenile was arrested and then turned over to the Tuolumne County Probation Department.
