Columbia, CA — Jim Mendonsa, Geoff White and Ron Hamilton were all inducted into the Columbia College Hall of Fame Thursday evening before a gathering of well over 100 well-wishers.
Mendonsa, known to his peers as the Godfather of Tuolumne County Search and Rescue, is retired and living in Turlock. Mendonsa taught search and rescue along with speech classes at Columbia College for 24 years. He has authored a number of search and rescue national training courses in addition to working the Loma Prieta earthquake (10/17/89) and the Murrah Federal Building bombing in Oklahoma City (4/17/95).
Within the past year White retired from his post as the publisher of the Sonora Union Democrat.
Hamilton was named as the college´s Alumnus of the Year.
