Sonora, CA — When it´s a case of a vehicle vs. a human and a dog, the latter usually comes out on the short end of the count and that´s exactly what happened Sunday evening at 6:30.
31 year old Marie Wilma Ray of Sonora was walking her dog west to east across Washington St. in the marked crosswalk at the Dodge St. intersection when she and her pet were struck by a 1997 Mitsubishi Mirage traveling northbound on Washington.
The vehicle was driven by 31 year old Tabitha Hooter of Jamestown who told police she had taken her eyes off the road for just a moment, and when she looked up Ray was in front of the vehicle.
Ray suffered a broken right leg and a broken rib. Her dog was treated for shock and bruises.
