Sonora, CA – Thanks to a $170,000 grant from the County Medical Services Program state governing board, patients in Tuolumne County will be eligible to receive counseling services at the Forest Rd. Specialty Clinic effective April 1.
Under the direction of clinical psychologist Dr. Galyn Savage, CMSP patients will be able to receive behavioral health counseling services in addition to the Medi-Cal patients who are currently served at that location.
The grant will fund the CMSP Behavioral Health Pilot Project which will test the hypothesis that there is a population of CMSP members for whom short-term mental health treatment will result in more effective and more cost-effective use of healthcare services.
Sonora Regional Medical Center is currently looking to hire a licensed clinical social worker to work with Dr. Savage in providing these services.
S.R.M.C.´s Director of Development and Public Relations Gail Witzlsteiner stated that, “We are very happy that our proposal was approved for funding, and that we will be able to offer this new service for medically indigent adults.”
