Murphys, Ca — Residents and visitors are celebrating Murphys heritage with the annual Irish Day events taking place today.
Presented by the Murphys Business Association, activities on Main St. began at 10am this morning and will continue until 5pm.
More than 100 vendors are out selling crafts and other unique items. Many local organizations are offering baked goods and other food items.
The popular parade got underway at 11am, and approximately 40 entries took part.
Four high school students, who symbolize the future leaders of Calaveras County, were selected to be the Grand Marshals. They included Courtney Melencheck, Sarah Pesout, Hillary Watts and Josh Hecocks.
Main St. in Murphys will be closed to vehicle traffic until 6pm this evening. (Saturday)
