San Andreas, Ca — The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a resolution to purchase approximately 28 acres of land located immediately adjacent to the Government Center.
The primary purpose of the land will be to provide a site for a new jail complex. Calaveras County will pay $1.9 million to take immediate ownership of the property, but also agrees to enter into binding arbitrations with the owners before a final negotiated price is decided.
Also today, the Board approved submission of an application for AB900 funding from the state to help construct the new jail facility. Calaveras County is hoping to receive $30 million.
