Sonora, CA — The 22nd Annual Frank Salel Super Bowl Breakfast is set for Sunday in the John Muir Building at the Mother Lode Fairgrounds.
Scott Berry serves as the general chairman of the event which raises money for the Sonora High School Scholarship Fund administered through the Sonora Area Foundation. Interact students from S.H.S. help with the serving of the breakfast.
Salel, himself, was an electrician and engineer by trade. He and his wife, Marion, moved to the Mother Lode from the San Leandro area in the 1960´s. Berry says that Salel was a master at fundraising.
In his own right, Salel built the cooking equipment that is still untilized to prepare the Sunday morning breakfast.
Over the past couple of years the 49´er Rotary Club has grossed between $20,000 and $25,000 per event.
This year´s Super Bowl Breakfast will start at 7:30 and close at 11am. Tickets are available through any ´49 Rotary Club member.
