San Andreas, Ca — California Highway Patrol officers have a new weapon at their disposal when out patrolling the roadways.
Recently the state approved the purchase of 1,659 conductive energy weapons, also known as “stun guns.”
“We´ll be getting our training on the seventh of February, and then we´ll put them out in the field” says Officer Mike Maddox in San Andreas.
Maddox notes that the San Andreas office has received nine guns. He says they are an effective non-lethal use of force.
Maddox notes that two officers have already started using the guns, as they had previously received training. Each of the individual Taser X-26 stun guns was purchased for $788.
