Mark Twain-St. Joseph’s Hospital Captures Four Awards

San Andreas, CA — Mark Twain-St. Joseph Hospital may be one of, if not, the smallest facilities in the Catholic Healthcare West chain of 42 hospitals and yet the San Andreas based facility came away with four awards in the recently held Hospital Quality Summit held in Los Angeles.

The first award was for Excellence in Core Measurements; the timeframes and administration of medication for congestive heart failure and pneumonia. The second award was for Medication Managment; making sure medications are administered safely, consistently and appropriately. The third award was for excellence in the Surgical Care Improvement Project.

Mark Twain-St. Joseph´s Hospital then received a $25,000 grant for finishing third in the Lloyd Dean Challenge Award competition. This award goes to the hospital with the greatest degree of patient satisfaction.

According to the hospital´s Vice President for Facilities and Project Development, Larry Cornish, the San Andreas based facility captured more awards than any other hospital in the Catholic Healthcare West chain.
