Sonora, Ca — Tuolumne County Administrator Craig Pedro gave a progress report Tuesday letting the Supervisors know that they are making progress on some of the 2008 Board Goals.
One goal that has been completed was to develop a plan for transitioning Tuolumne General Medical Facility´s Skilled Nursing and Acute Psychiatric services to a new model/system. On March 4th, the Board entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Avalon Healthcare Inc., calling for the company to build and operate a new 90-120 bed skilled nursing facility within the next 3-4 years.
On June 17th, the Board approved closing the Acute Psych Unit as of December 31st, and transitioning to an enhanced outpatient/23 hour crisis stabilization model beginning January 1, 2009.
Other goals that are now completed include finalizing a plan for the closure of the Jamestown Landfill, adoption of an ordinance discouraging the premature removal of oak trees and consideration of an Inclusionary Housing ordinance.
Pedro also says that the County is making progress in completing an Environmental Impact Report for the future Law and Justice Center. The consultant is expected to have a preliminary report to the Community Development Department sometime later this month, with the final report to the Board by November.
