Mariposa County, CA — Eight residences and seven outbuildings have been destroyed in the 18,150 acre Telegraph Fire.
According to Public Information Officer Wayne Barringer evacuation orders issued by the Sheriff´s Office include approximately 25 residences on Greeley Hill, Texas Hill, Schilling Rd. and Dogtown Rd.
Barringer adds that during nightime hours on Hwy 140 cell phone connectivity is compromised due to smoke accumulation. Emergency calls may not be connected so travel for the time being should be restricted to daylight hours.
In addition motorists should be aware that on Hwy 49 from the Hwy 140 cutoff north beyond Mt. Bullion during the evening hours there will be an abundance of emergency equipment that will be relocating for nightime operations. Residents are asked to be extremely cautious as they approach this equipment.
Cause of the fire has already been determined to be target shooting.
