Predicted 100 Percent Containment Mark At Telegraph Fire Spoiled

Mariposa, CA — Due to a couple of Monday spot fires on the troublesome northeastern flank firefighters were unable to meet the predicted 100 percent containment mark at the Telegraph Fire.

CAL Fire´s Cheryl Goetz had the opportunity to fly over the fire Monday and reports that it is considered an extremely “dirty” burn. In other words, there is still a great deal of unburned fuels.

Goetz is hopeful that 100 percent containment will be reached today but advises that high temperatures, low humidity and predicted winds could delay full containment.

Investigators are now reporting that 28 structures have been destroyed along with 90 outbuildings. Monday those totals were only 21 and 33 respectively.

Resources on site include 1,926 personnel, 48 hand crews, 101 engines, 35 water tenders, two dozers and three helicopters.

Current cost of fighting the Telegraph fire; $36,499,417.
