A local version of “Dancing with the Stars” will take place at the Fairgrounds in Sonora this Saturday night. Friday Night Live and YES Program Director, Shana Monaco discussed the event on today´s Newsmaker segment on AM-1450 KVML.
Monaco said, “Although the event is sold out, the public is welcome to attend and if you can´t find a bleacher seat, then you´re welcome to stand, watch and have fun for only $10.”
The doors open at 5:30 and the event begins at 6:30pm. After the “Stars” are through dancing, the floor will open up for a general dance from 10pm – midnight.
A few of the featured “Stars” include Clarke Broadcasting´s News Director Bill Johnson along with his Wife, Jeri. From KKBN 93.5, “Big Joe” will partner with “On the Street” host, Alisha Cruz. Star 92.7 FM´s Justin Flores will co-share hosting duties for the evening with Black Oak Casino´s Kimberly Francis.
Other “Stars” scheduled to perform are Tuolumne School Superintendant Joe Silva, Sonora High School Principle Todd Deardon, Tuolumne County Sheriff Jim Melee, Sonora Police Chief Mace McIntosh, CHP Officer Tom Wills and many other local celebrities.
The event benefits Friday Night Live and the Yes Partnership which is a coalition of several agencies that work together in preventing both drug and alcohol abuse among the youth in the community.
