Sacramento, CA — The California Department of Public Health is warning consumers to not feed their pets certain bags of Pedigree Complete Nutrition Small Crunchy Bites because the product may be contaminated with salmonella.
Tuolumne County Health Officer Dr. Todd Stolp states, “Salmonella is no fun. It´s a bacteria that can cause high fever, lethargy, bloody diarrhea and vomiting. Salmonella is typically transmitted by certain poultry products and it´s probable some animal protein that was included in the dog food was the sources of the salmonella.”
This particular dog food was sold at COSTCO outlets in 52 pound bags with Lot Code Numbers 831BFCAT02 and 830DFCAT02 and “Best By: date of 7/2009.
