Sonora, CA — With the assistance of the Highway Patrol and the Tuolumne County Sheriff´s Office, the Sonora Police Department will conduct another Sobriety-Drivers License checkpoint Friday evening within the three square mile city limits.
The checkpoint will be operated from 8pm Friday until 2am Saturday.
From Police Chief Mace McIntosh, “Traffic volume permitting, all vehicles will be checked for drivers who are under the influence of alcohol or drugs or driving while unlicensed. Our goal remains clear; the S.P.D. will not tolerate such reckless behavior. Our zero tolerance policy remains in effect.”
The sobriety-drivers license checkpoint is made possible by the grant awarded to the Department by the Office of Traffic Safety. According to Lt. Mark Stinson the Department will conduct two additional checkpoints prior to the grant´s expiration.
